Joseph Edward Belanger, 58, Nashwauk, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Fairview University Medical Center—Mesabi, Hibbing. He was born in Hibbing on Dec. 26, 1954, to Francis and Dorothy Belanger. Joe and Sherry Nelson were united in marriage on July 18, 1975, in Bovey and they made their home in Nashwauk. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for National Steel Pellet Company and was an avid outdoorsman. Joe loved hunting, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry, of Nashwauk; two daughters: Theresa (Anthony) Feldhaus of Nashwauk and Molly Belanger of Nashwauk; 3 grandchildren: Dalton, Trenton, and Kendra; his mother, Dorothy “Dottie” DeMaris of Hibbing; 2 brothers, Roy (Shelly) Belanger of Nashwauk and Raymond (Sally) Belanger of Kelly Lake; two sisters, Fran (John) Kirk of Morris, MN and Kathy (Bill) Hauer of Montana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Francis Belanger.
