Joseph James Sandor, Jr.
Joseph J. Sandor, Jr., 74, Hibbing, died Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center, Hibbing. He was born in Hibbing on May 26, 1939, to Joseph and Helen Sandor. Joe graduated from Hibbing High School and Hibbing Junior College. He served as a medic in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked at the Virginia Hospital as an orderly for many years and later as a custodian for ISD 701 in Hibbing, mainly at Washington Elementary School. Joe was an artist who enjoyed sketching and oil painting. He was a member of Range Artists Association and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. He enjoyed walking his dog, Poochie.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Margaret Vespa, Hibbing; niece and nephews: Joe (Joan) Vespa of Hibbing, Sandy (Geno) Mancini of Mountain Iron, MN, and Mike (Ashley Koschak) Vespa of Hibbing; great-nieces and nephews: Marissa, Madeline, and Joey Vespa, Gena, Tommy, and Bobby Mancini, Ashley (Ian) McGhghy, and Dillon Vespa; a great-great-niece, Nevaeh McGhghy; and by many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
