Joseph C. Sheldon

Joseph C. Sheldon, 89, Hibbing died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing.  He was born on November 26, 1926 to Joseph and Florence (Reid) Sheldon in Hibbing.  Joseph attended Hibbing Schools and graduated from the Hibbing High School.  After high school, he attended Dunwoody Institute and completed a two year computer program.  After college Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.  After the war, he married  Eleanor Boria on June 17, 1961 in Hibbing.  Immediately they moved to Los Angeles, CA where he was employed as a computer technician for Bowne Inc.  They resided in California for 35 years, moving back to Hibbing in May of 1995.  He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing.  Joseph proudly made exquisite chess sets, and loved arts and crafts.  He enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading books.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Eleanor Sheldon, Hibbing, his twin sister, Janet Sheldon, Minneapolis, MN, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David and Douglas Sheldon, and his sister, Phyllis McComber.

Funeral services for Joseph will be held 11:00am, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Wesley Methodist Church in Hibbing.  Rev. Jim Deters will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.  A private interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
