Joseph M. Suzick
Joseph M. Suzick, 59, Hibbing, died peacefully after family and friends said goodbye on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth as a result of a tragic ATV accident. Joe was born may 29, 1954 to David and Mary (Knezovich) Suzick and was raised in Keewatin. He was a 1973 graduate of Nashwauk-Keewatin High School and attended Hibbing Community College. Joe married Brenda Hanson on October 8, 1977 in Duluth. They lived in Keewatin until 1981 when they moved to Hibbing to raise their family. He started his career in mining at National Steel in Keewatin but was currently an employee at Hibbing Tac for over 20 years. Joe was a proud union representative of United Steelworkers Local 2705, a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Hibbing Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and sports whether it was playing, coaching, officiating, or watching his favorite Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Joe is survived by his wife Brenda; their children Matthew J. Suzick, Duluth and Lynlee M. Suzick, Hibbing; his mother, Mary; Hibbing; brothers, David J. Sulzick and Michael L. Suzick of Keewatin; Stephen F. (Christine Slocum) Suzick, of Superior; Pamela J. (John) Brust and Sandra J. Suzick of Hibbing. His sisters-in-law; Charlene MacMillan, Barbara (James) Burger, Susan Hanson, and Judy Suzick; nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members; and his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Milo. He was preceded in death by his father David M. Suzick; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his father and mother in law. The family would like to thank the first responders, the emergency staff at Fairview, and the St. Luke’s Hospital staff, especially Kim and Art for not only taking care of Joe, but his family and friends as well.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Monday in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary by the Knights of Columbus will be at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at 10:00 am., Tuesday at Church. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
