Judy K. Haverkost, 65, Hibbing, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center. She was born in Hibbing on October 28, 1949, to Donald and Violet Campbell. She grew up in Hibbing, attended Hibbing Schools, and was united in marriage to Jim Riipinen in 1970. Judy had worked for various area businesses, retiring from Lowe’s. She and Rick Haverkost were united in marriage on May 22, 1991. Judy and Rick enjoyed traveling together, dining out and spending time at their place on White Iron Lake near Ely. Judy loved dogs, especially Yorkies.
She is survived by her husband, Rick Haverkost, of Hibbing; by two sons, Dave (Marnie) Riipinen of St. Michael, MN and Doug (Michelle) Riipinen of Boise, ID; two grandchildren, Gabe and Livia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by siblings Richard, Donna, and Patty; and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Riipinen.
Funeral services will be 12 Noon on Friday, January 16, 2015, at Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. The Rev. Rod Tuomi will officiate. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday for one hour prior to the service. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com.
