Julia (Durish) Groshel
December 31, 1916—February 12, 2016
Julia (Durish) Groshel departed to eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 12, 2016. She was born in Merrill, MI, on December 31, 1916 to John and Judith Durish. Her family moved to Meadowlands, MN in the early 1920’s. Julia married Harry Groshel in 1937 in Duluth, MN. They moved to Chisholm in 1950, and together built a home in Lakeview Addition where they raised their three children and hosted many family gatherings and special occasions. She worked at both Cluett Peabody in Virginia and Allen Merrill in Chisholm. Julia was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. Julia enjoyed attending crafting and sewing sessions with the ladies of Faith and serving C&C. A loving, gracious lady, she will be dearly missed.
Julia is survived by her children, Lyle (Lettie) Groshel, Virginia Beach, VA; Judith (Steve) Heimer, Rosemount, MN; and Janice (Ron) Novoselac, Chisholm, MN; along with nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm, MN. The Rev. Brian Birk will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Chisholm Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
