Julia Ann Olin
Julia A. Olin, 97, was born and lived her entire life in Hibbing. She was one of the daughters of Frank and Amelia (Luketich) Juricich.
She was a member of both St. Leo’s parish and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish in Hibbing. She was a lifetime member of Catholic Women’s Council. In earlier years, she belonged to St. Margaret’s Circle, which was very active at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.
She was a 1936 graduate of Hibbing High School, and a 1938 graduate of Hibbing Junior College. During the Second World War in the early 1940’s, Julia was employed as a secretary in the Hibbing office of M.A. Hanna Mining Co. After the war, in 1946, she entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Roy H. Olin. She continued working for M.A. Hanna for several more years, and then become a stay at home mother.
With her husband’s sudden death in 1965, Julia returned to college to brush up on her secretarial skills. On Valentine’s Day 1966, she became a lifetime devoted employee at Mesabi Radial Tire Company in Hibbing, and from there she regained her confidence in being back in the workforce. Julia personally wanted to thank the family of Carl M. D’Aquila, Kerry, and all its other employees that she had the privilege to work with.
She enjoyed playing bridge, living in her own home, working in her yard, reading, and occasional trips to the casino. Her children always came first, and she was very proud of her boys and their accomplishments.
She is survived by her sons: Paul Olin, Tom (Renay) Olin, and Jack (Debbie) Olin; her grandchildren: Marissa Olin, Matthew (Erin) Olin, Lucas (Kelsey) Olin, Tyler (Courtney) Olin, and Michelle (Chris) Murray; great-grandchildren: Parker, Taylor, Amelia, and Ivy; siblings: Marion Tastsides and James Juricich; many nieces, nephews; her dear friends: Florence Meli, Patti Abate, and Nancy Payne; and her dear neighbors, Pat Rocchio and husband Karl.
