Julio Constantini
Julio Constantini, 89, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. He was born on October 24, 1924, to Bernadino and Teresa (Tomassoni) Constantini in Hibbing. Julio graduated from Hibbing High School in 1943. After proudly serving two years in the Army Air Force during WWII, Julio came home. He entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Frances Scanlon on August 30, 1945, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. He was employed as a Welder for U.S. Steel, retiring after 43 years of service.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing, VFW Post 8510 of Hibbing, and Hibbing Municipal Golf Course. His pastimes were bowling, hunting and fishing, but his passion was watching hockey, especially the Minnesota Gophers.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Constantini, Hibbing; son, Edward (Suzanne) Constantini, Houlton, WI; and a daughter, Lynn Haggerty, Bemidji, MN; brother, Anthony (Connie) Constantini, Hibbing; five grandchildren, Chris and Sean Constantini, both of Minneapolis, MN, Courtney (Patrick) Baskerville, Fargo, ND, Sam Haggerty, Bemidji, MN, and Sarah Haggerty, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Constantini, and his parents, Bernadino and Teresa (Tomassoni) Constantini.
Funeral services for Julio will be held at 11:00am, Friday, March 28, 2014 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Mr. Raymond Sampson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
