Katherine J. Peterson, 98, St. Cloud, formerly of Hibbing died Wednesday July 13, 2016 at Cherrywood Advanced Living in St. Cloud, MN. She was born on August 31, 1917 to William J. and Antony (Meier) Phalen in Crookston, MN. Kay was a resident of Hibbing since 1955 coming from Crookston, MN. She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Robert F. Peterson on May 7, 1983. She was employed as a cashier at Red Owl for 22 years. She was a former member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary post #222 of Hibbing.
She is survived by her 4 children, Patricia K. Nosan, White Bear Lake, MN, Mary Jo (Dennis) Sakry, St. Cloud, MN, Marilyn A. Sweetnam, Duluth, MN, and Diane (Dr. Charles) Malone-Driver, St. Cloud, MN, six grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1 st husband, Joseph T. Malone, 2 nd husband, Robert F. Peterson, twin brother, James Phalen, sister, Helen Berg, and two grandsons, David John Sakry and Joseph Louis Nosan.
Funeral services for Katherine will be 11:00am, Friday, July 22, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
