Kathryn Joy Alice Foss
Kathryn J.A. Foss, 51, Hibbing passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in Grygla, MN to Thelma and Gordon Foss on January 27, 1966 and was the youngest of 10 children. During Kathy’s 51 years of life, she was diagnosed with Alpha 1 lung disease in 1997. In 1999, she received a double lung transplant. Kathy endured many operations following the transplant, but remained strong and resilient. Her favorite enjoyments included having morning coffee on a dock or backyard swing, when all was peacefull. She loved flowers, especially purple ones, which reminded her of her mother. Kathy’s pets were the joy of her life. Camping, and then fishing from the kayak were her favorite recent activities.
She is survived by Marvin (Helen) Foss, David Foss, Debra Dahl, Tim (Jean) Foss, Steven (Alana) Foss, Gary (Melanie) Foss, Dorothy Hill, sister-in-laws, Joyce (Ron) Foss, Sarah (Richard) Foss and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Thelma (Ostlund) Foss, three brothers, Ron, Richard and Mark Foss.
Kathy wanted to send a special thank you to her lung donor and family, for 18 years of life. She tried to make the best of every day.
A private memorial will be held in Kathryn’s honor in Grygla, MN, at a later date as per her request. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
