Kathryn A. Koprivec
Kathryn A. Koprivec, 96, Keewatin resident since 1942, died Sunday March 18, 2018 at Guardian Angels in Hibbing. She was born in Ironwood, Mich. to Emil and Katherine (Vihar) Markovich on September 16, 1921.
Kathryn loved and was devoted to her family, friends, and church. Her exceptional skills in cooking/baking, sewing, and gardening were second to none. Kathryn’s delicious streudels and poticas were legendary.
Children were always an integral part of Kathryn’s being. The children in her care were nurtured and loved as her own, whether it was the treasured extended families she worked for or the volunteering she did in the Keewatin Public School system.
Her faith and spiritual life were important to her. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a founding member of the Carmelites, a member of St. Mary’s Bernadette Circle/ Catholic Council, and taught catechism for years. Traveling to the Vatican, Lourdes, and Medjugorje were highlights in her life. The many retreats she attended uplifted her in many ways and added dear friends to her life.
Kathryn also held the position of Secretary for the Croation Fraternal Union.
Kathryn will be missed and forever cherished by her children, Kathleen (Peter) Martin, Langley, Wash., Peter (Sally) Koprivec, Lawrence Lake, Marc (Roberta) Koprivec, Keewatin, and Jean (Peter) Aimonetti, Cottage Grove, MN, her sister, Irene DelZoppo, St. Cloud, four grandchildren, Wendy Koprivec, Jami (John) O’Brien, Christopher (Ashley) Koprivec, and Sonja Knezovich, 7 great-grandchildren, Willie and Gloria Hines, Vinny, Serena, and Colby O’Brien, and Carson and Casey Koprivec. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter Koprivec, brother, Marko Markovich, sister, Margaret Markovich, and step father Mike Vlatkovich.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday March 23, 2018 in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk with the Rev. Fr. Seth Gogolin celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in church one hour before Mass. Burial will be in Nashwauk Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
