Kathryn Ann Markovich
Kathryn A. Markovich, 88, Keewatin died Monday, January 7, 2013, at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born on September 19, 1924, to John and Eva (Vukelich) Milkovich in Keewatin. Kathryn graduated from the Robert L. Downing School in Keewatin and later graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Martin on January 19, 1945. Kathryn was employed as a bookkeeper for the Central Hanna Employees Credit Union. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin, the VFW Post 5516 Ladies Auxiliary, the Keewatin Senior Citizens, and the St. Mary’s CCW.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Becky) Markovich, Hibbing, daughters, Mary Kay (Jack) Wihela, Cloquet, MN., and Susan (Paul) Bokros, Maple Grove, MN., her sister, Madeline “Munda” Pankratz, Little Canada, MN., three grandchildren, Michael (Kimber) Markovich, Bark River, MI., Nicholas (Heather) Markovich, Keewatin, MN., and Lindsay (Jeffrey) Douville, Hibbing, five great-grandchildren, Kennedy Markovich, Jasper and Kaija Markovich, and Avery and Hadley Douville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva (Vukelich) Milkovich, husband, Martin Markovich in 2005, her sister, Mary “Mitzi” Hurd, and brother, John Milkovich.
Funeral services for Kathryn will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
