Keith Edwin Metzer
Keith Edwin Metzer, 65, Hibbing, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Duluth. He was born to Charles and Marie Metzer in Hibbing on July 7, 1946 and was an Army and National Guard Veteran . His service in the Army was from Nov. 23, 1965 to Nov. 9, 1967 and in the National Guard from March 26, 1981 to March 25, 1989. Keith had been employed at National Steel as a Shovel Operator from April 4, 1969 to April of 2001. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5516 in Keewatin, Knights of Columbus, and Range Riders ATV Club.
Keith is survived by his wife, Clara, five children, Michelle (Bob Campbell) Metzer, Hibbing, Victoria (Mark) Haggerty, Farmington, MN, Debbie Putney, Hibbing, Kerrie (Mouhsine Bakkal) Larsen, Hibbing, and Char (Mike) West, Hibbing, 13 grandchildren, Clara, Tylar, Seth, Travis, Clorrisa, Jalynn, Katie, Autumn, Shabree, Chandra, Joshua, Kyler, and Logan, two great grandchildren, Jesse and Teegan, five siblings, Donald (Carol) Metzer, Broken Arrow, OK, Jerry (Linda) Metzer, Buffalo, WY, Larry (Stella) Metzer, Buhl, Karen (Skip) Hoffman, Kenosha, WI, and Bob Metzer, Coon Rapids, MN. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Metzer, brother, Dennis Metzer, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Wednesday November 16, 2011 in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk, MN, with the Rev. Fr. Dennis Hoffman celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be in Church for one hour before Mass. Burial with Military Honors accorded by the VFW Post 8510 will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Donald, Jerry, Larry and Bob Metzer, Skip Hoffman, Mike Kennedy, and Mike Silvis. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
