Kenneth James Zakrajsek
Kenneth J. Zakrajsek, 72, Hibbing, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at home. He was born in Grand Rapids, MN on June 17, 1941, to Laudomar and Elizabeth Zakrajsek. Ken was united in marriage to Georgann Thomas in Nashwauk in 1963. He had worked as an English teacher at Hibbing High School for 34 years, retiring in 1997. At HHS, Ken was the head football coach for many years. He enjoyed polka music and was a member of the Mayfair Avenue Buttonbox Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Until 2012, he was the owner/operator of The Video Place in Hibbing.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Georgann, of Hibbing; two children, Tim (Gayle) Zakrajsek of Duluth and LeeAnne (Devon) Herrmann of Mountain Iron, MN; a brother, Bob Zakrajsek of Encedido, CA; five grandchildren: Brooke (Steve) Esping, Sean Zakrajsek, Steven Zakrajsek, Connor Herrmann, and Cody Herrmann; four great-grandchildren: Melina, Oakley, Laken, and Finlee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant twins, Charles Matthew and Anne Marie Zakrajsek in 1968; by his parents; and by a sister, Betty Katalinich.
