Larry R. Ableiter, 76, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Monday, October 3, 2016, at his home in Hibbing. Larry was born on July 21, 1940, to Richard and Elizabeth (Strangfeld) Ableiter in Neillsville, WI. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for over 3 years. He later was employed with Ameripride as a maintenance engineer retiring in 2005 after 20 years of service. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Larry loved his dog very much. He enjoyed golfing as a pastime, and was known for fixing anything and everything.
Larry is survived by his two children: Kim O’Shea, Eagan, MN, and Michael (Ericka) Ableiter, Andover, MN; a sister, Shirley (Dean) Lind, Richfield, MN; a brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Ableiter, Arizona; six grandchildren: Ryan O’Shea, Taylor O’Shea, Emily O’Shea, Carrie DeChambeau, Chance Ableiter, and Gage Ableiter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Harold Ableiter; and his son-in-law, Steven O’Shea.
Per Larry’s request there will be services held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
