Larry Lamke
Larry Lamke, 70, Hibbing, died Mon. Jan. 14, 2013 in his home. He was born Aug. 14, 1942 in Palisade, MN to Fritz and Eva Ward Lamke Kuchera. He graduated from the Aitkin High School and had attended St. Cloud State Univ. He had lived in Duluth and various other cities in MN and ND before moving to Hibbing in 1978 where he worked for Pamida. Larry then opened a pawn shop and also operated a tax service until 2010. He had been the manager of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and at the time of his death he was the manager of the Shortstop Convenience Store in Hibbing. Larry liked to talk about sports and politics, he enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with his family, but his favorite times were spent as his grandchildren’s biggest fan, attending and cheering them on in the sports they participated in.
He is survived by his daughters: Lisa (Barry) Buria of Buhl, MN and Kristie Lamke of Hibbing, his step children: Maureen (Randy) Rowe of North Pole, AK, and Tim (Sue) Carlson and Terry (Sue Stoen) Carlson, both of Onalaska, WI, his 8 grandchildren: Jeremy, Jessy, Wyatt, Tanner, Daniel, Shelbi, Katie and Colt, stepsister: Charlotte Nelson and step brothers: Arthur (Sue) Kuchera and Harold (Deanne) Kuchera all of Albert Lea, MN, a half rother Steve (Andrea) Lamke of Brainerd, MN, a half sister Kathy (Everett) Gonzales of Prior Lake, MN, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lou, his parents, his sisters Nancy Bolton and Judy Melby and a brother Gary Lamke.
The family will be gathering at the Brickyard bar and restaurant from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sat. Jan. 19th . Please join them for a time of visiting and remembering. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home. The family requests no flowers.
