Lawrence William Chernugal, 90, lifelong Hibbing resident died Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Fairview University Medical Center in Hibbing. He was born in Hibbing to Martin and Eva Chernugal on May 8, 1922. He was employed with the City of Hibbing. Along with his wife Anna, he was active with the Hibbing Catholic Community in its Parish Neighborhood Renewal.
He is survived by his stepsons, Allen (Linda) Nevalainen, Rockford, IL, Dale (Mary Ellen) Nevalainen, Hibbing, Wayne (Janet) Nevalainen, Chisholm, and Gary (Zandra) Nevalainen, Rochester, MN, and many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna (Keyport Nevalainen) Chernugal, his parents, and sisters, Eva, Mary, Emma, Lucy, Mildred, and Florence, bothers, John, and Bernard “Jack”, stepsons, Steven and David Nevalainen.
Funeral services will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 am., with the Rev. Fr. Anthony Craig officiating. Visitation will be in Church for one hour before the service. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
