Veteran and Avid Outdoorsman
Surrounded by his loving family, Lawrence (Larry) J. Meadows, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 22nd at N.C. Little Hospice, Edina Minnesota. Larry was born in Hibbing Minnesota, Feb 6th, 1932, son of the late Fred and Mary (Nee: Marolt) Meadows.
He was a graduate of Hibbing High School class of 1950. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean war. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Ponikvar who preceded him in death March 17th, 2018. He was a pilot for 20 years and worked for the city of Hibbing for 15 years. A true outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing in Canada and Minnesota with family and friends. He was an avid Vikings, Timberwolves, Twins, Wild and Lynx fan.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Mike (Lynn) Meadows of Chanhassen, LeeAnn Meadows of Eden Prairie, Mark (Stephanie) Meadows of Plymouth, Grandchildren Mikaela, Sam, Zach, Mimi and Paige, relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother Robert.
Funeral services and a celebration of life for both Larry and his wife Mitzi, will be held Saturday, June 9th @ 11am at the Blessed Sacrament Church. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family on Saturday, June 9th from 9:30 until time of service at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials to the N.C. Little Memorial Hospice, Inc. 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina, Minnesota 55435 are suggested in lieu of flowers or cards.
Thanks to the staff at Shorewood Landing and N.C. Little Hospice for taking great care of Mom and Dad at the end of their lives.
