Leona Mae Peterson passed away at the age of 90, at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl,
MN. She was born to Theodore and Iona (Gunderson) Jacobson on July 26, 1933.
Leona grew up in the farming area near Ada, MN. She graduated from the Ada
High School in 1951. Later the family moved to Hibbing so Theodore could go to
work in the mines. Leona married Edgar Peterson, also from Ada and they made
their home in Hibbing. Leona loved to cook and bake and always had coffee ready
for anyone who stopped by. Saturday morning coffee was a given!
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Iona Jacobson, husband, Edgar Peterson, sister,
Thelma Thomas. She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Alan) Bexell and their
son Ethan, Kami (Joe) Bonelli and their son Aaron (Alysha) and their daughter,
Abigail Bonelli, brothers, Ron (Dotsy) Jacobson, Larry Jacobson, Ted (Sharon) Jacobson,
Terry (Sue) Jacobson and many nieces and nephews. Leona’s family would like to
thank the staff at Cornerstone Villa and Moments Hospice for the wonderful care
they provided. Per Leona’s request no services will be held. There will be a private
interment at a later date.
