Leonard J. Mayerle, 96, Nashwauk, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.  He was born to Joseph and Kathryn Mayerle in Nashwauk on October 24, 1916 and was a veteran of  WW II serving in both the Army and Navy.  Leonard had been employed with Butler Brothers as an Electrician for 38 years retiring in 1978.  He enjoyed lakeshore having purchased several cabins through the years and had a love for planting trees at the cabins.  Mr. Mayerle was a member of the American Legion Post #307, in Nashwauk and St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk.
Leonard will be missed by his wife, Antionette, children, Kathy (Keith) Moellering, Nashwauk, Joann (Rick) Martire, Pengilly, Jerry (Judy) Mayerle, Nashwauk, and Joe (Jane) Mayerle, Nashwauk, 7 grandchildren, Angela (Mark) Fischer, Ben (Nikki Huntington) Moellering, Chris (Kelsey Oie) Moellering, Julie (Matt) Salminen, Lenny (Jodie) Mayerle, Tom (Sara) Mayerle, and Terese Mayerle, 5 great grandchildren, Morgan, Chase, Kaitlyn, Paige and Siiri.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph, Kathryn, Jack, Julie , and Frank, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Friday, June 7, 2013 in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Method celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be in Church for one hour before Mass.  Burial will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
