Lesley J. Gangl
Lesley J. Gangl, 77, rural Nashwauk, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Nashwauk to Joseph and Nettie (Kanieski) Gangl on June 30, 1938. Les had been employed with Butler Brothers, M.A. Hanna and National Steel retiring in 1994 after 38 years of service. He was an avid hunter and woodworker and a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk.
Les is survived by his wife of 56 years Gail, children, Laurie Gangl, Nashwauk, Robert Gangl, Stillwater, Kelly (Todd) Schmelzer, Hibbing, and Patti (Larry) Thomas, Nashwauk, 12 grandchildren, Jeff (Crystal), Jared, Brittany, Travis, Zack, Whitney, Tyler, Cheyenne, Jessica, Crystal, Ken, and Brandi, and 8 great grandchildren, sister in law and brother in law Kay and Ralph Hocking, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Robert and Roy Weber, and Shirley DeNio, and grandson, Jeremy Schmelzer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Saturday, July 25, 2015 in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk with Deacon Richard Johnston officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
