Lois (Wiirre) Mankowski
Lois L. Mankowski, age 89, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016, in Chisholm. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife. She worked as a waitress, tree nursery worker, homemaker, and finally as Assistant Postmaster in Iron, where she lived until moving to Hibbing in 1990. She was a valued volunteer at the Hibbing Senior Center and at Fairview Hospital for 25 years.
She is survived by her four children: Cindi Mankowski, Charlie (Donna) Mankowski, Gary (Cindy) Mankowski and Candace Mankowski; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Florian (Joan) Mankowski; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand- nephews and nieces; and by her friends from Monday night cribbage and bocce ball. Lois was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, David C. Mankowski.
Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A celebration of Lois’ life will be held at Valentini’s in Chisholm after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to cancer research, or charity of your choice, in her name.
