Lois Williams, 86, longtime resident of Nashwauk died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing.  She was born on December 31, 1927 to Anthony and Sophia (Gummerum) Banke in Cold Spring, MN.  She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Robert S. Williams on April 18, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN.  A homemaker by trade, Lois has donated her time and talents to many organizations.  As an active member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, she has given much of her time.  She was a religious education teacher since 1952, on the Liturgical Committee from 1983-1994, a Eucharist Minister since 1974, helped cook and serve funeral dinners for over 38 years, has donated and arranged flowers for the church at Easter and Christmas and made and donated silk flower arrangements to be raffled at church teas and Harvest Supper.  Lois had made and donated silk flower arrangements for eight years to the Nashwauk Golden Age Club and the Minnesota Senior Federation-Iron Range.  Her hand embroidered tablecloths and napkins have been donated to the Minnesota Senior Federation Iron Range Regional Convention and the Minnesota State Senior Federation Convention.  She has volunteered time to the following organizations; St. Cecilia’s Council of Catholic Women, Hibbing Deanery Board, Duluth Diocesan Council of Catholic Women; she served as president of the Nashwauk Golden Age Club, and a delegate and president for the Itasca County Committee on Aging, the Itasca County Human Services Advisory Board; the Elder Circle Board; and as a member and president of the Minnesota Senior Federation, and their board of directors; the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging Advisory Committee; the Nashwauk-Keewatin Cable Commission; Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life; East Range Cancer Unit and Relay for Life.
Her pastimes included; cooking, baking, embroidery and crocheting.  She was an avid Minnesota sports fan.
She is survived by her children, Anthony (Jeanne) Williams, Elk River, MN, Robbie (Terry) Sullivan, Nashwauk, MN, and Leah (Bill) Klein, Duluth, MN, sister, Marie Stratton, Davenport, IA, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert S. Williams in 1998, daughter, Connie Stemper, brother, Jack Banke, and sister, Bernice Caldwell.
Funeral services for Lois will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN.  The Rev. Fr. Seth Gogolin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until the 11:00am funeral Mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Elder Circle in Grand Rapids, MN.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
