Lorraine Persgard Jamar passed away Saturday, May 25th with her family by her side. Born in Duluth, Minnesota on February 29, 1928. She was the only child of Leif and Mayme Rasmussen Persgard.
Except for 2 ½ years in Medford, Oregon during World War II, she grew up in Duluth and was a 1946 graduate of Standbrook Hall. She attended the College of St. Scholastica for two years and then worked in public relations for Oliver Mining until her marriage to Dwight Jamar in 1949. After a few years in Ispheming, Michigan, they moved to Hibbing where they had a happy and interesting life raising a family and starting a business. After retirement, they lived part of their life in Arizona where they enjoyed golf, tennis and traveled extensively. She was an active volunteer for many years and member of the First Presbyterian Church and Mesaba Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1995, her daughter Anne Rislove and her friend and companion for many years, Dale Stoneburner.
Survived by her sons Steve (Shelley) Columbia, Maryland; Tom (Sue) Hibbing and Jeff (Laura) Eden Prairie, Minnesota and eight grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 8 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jim Deters and pastor Katie Larson will officiate. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time.
Memorials are preferred to Fairview Range Hospice, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at the University of Minnesota or memorial of choice
