Louis C. Collyard age 85 of Hibbing passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home. He was born June 21, 1938 in Hibbing to Carlo and Siiri (Hepola) Collyard. Louis was a 1956 graduate of Hibbing High School, following graduation he worked at the Reserve Mine in Babbitt for a few years before starting a 30 year career at the Hibbing Fire Department, retiring as a Captain. Louis loved being out at the cabin, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandson. Louis retired when he was 55 from the fire department and was able to spend many years traveling with good friends Marty and Judy Kerr and his wife Carol before her passing. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Algonquin Club. Louis is survived by his children, Cindy (Jon) Seeba-Turkula, Mark (Shelli Edwards) Collyard, Pam Collyard, Lynn Hachey, 6 step-children, Greg, Doug, Laura, Tricia, Karen, David, brother, John Collyard, sister-in-law June Lucas, grandchildren, Shannon Seeba, Ryan (Miae) Seeba, Jeremy Collyard, great-grandchildren, Edward, Angela, Kate, Ryden and Karolynn, nephews, Daren, Brian, Scott and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Siiri and Carlo, first wife, Carol Collyard, second wife, Geraldine Eicholz-Collyard, brothers, Dewey and Carl “Corky” Collyard. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon, Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. Visitation will be held from 11 am until the beginning of Mass at noon at the church. Interment will be at the Hibbing Park Cemetery in North Hibbing. Louis family would like to extend their gratitude to the Fairview Range Hospice team and the staff at Aspen Grove for the care and compassion they showed him.
