Louis “Butchie” Hrovat
Louis “Butchie” Hrovat, 75, of Hibbing, died on his birthday, Saturday January 28, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth. He was born in Kitzville to Louis and Angeline (Smith) Hrovat on January 28, 1942. Louis graduated from Hibbing High School in 1960, was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1966 and worked the duration of his career as a bodyman at Kitzville Body Shop until his retirement in 2011.
Louis was united in marriage to Carol Erjavec in Hibbing on June 21, 1969. In his early years, he enjoyed working on cars and competing in drag races. His ongoing hobbies included bowling, watching sports and listening to polka music. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, Jeffrey and Zackary. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Hibbing Bowling League.
He will be missed by his wife Carol; daughter Stephanie (Jeff) McCann and his two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Zackary McCann, all of New Brighton; sisters, Margaret (Robert) Gardner, Crystal, and Patricia Chisholm, Kitzville; sisters-in-law, Joanne Johnson, Duluth and Ruth Hrovat, Kitzville; brother-in-law Marvin Alapeteri, Bovey; several nieces, a nephew, many extended family members and friends.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Angeline Hrovat; brother, Robert “Bobby” Hrovat; sister, Kathleen Alapeteri; brothers-in-law, Richard Chisholm and Ronald Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am., Friday, February 3, 2017 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Gabriel Waweru celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. A special thank you to the entire Oncology Staff at St. Luke’s for the wonderful care they gave Louis.
