Marian K. Vesel, 81, Hibbing, died peacefully Saturday, September 15, 2012, in her Hillcrest Suites home. She was born in Craigville, MN on April 16, 1931, to James and Gertrude Combs.
Marian worked many years as a waitress in various restaurants in Hibbing. She loved meeting new people and making their dining experience a pleasurable one. Marian was best known for her potica, apple strudel, and sauerkraut. She had a great love of all music, dancing, bowling and playing cards. She also made time to do volunteer activities and was an avid reader. She loved to travel and see new places; her favorite trips were to Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Marian’s family would like to thank the past and present personnel of the Hillcrest Terrace Suites and North Star Hospice for the professional and loving care.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Vesel, of Killeen, TX; a brother Robert Combs and a sister Millie Spezialy from Anchorage, AK; a grandson, Billy Vesel; her beloved dog, Puppy Chow; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William and son Thomas, three brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM Wednesday September 19, 2012, in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. The Rev. Gabriel Waweru will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10-11 AM in the funeral home. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com.
