Marie F. Gherardi, 83, of Hibbing, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2014, with family by her side.

Marie was born the daughter of Emilio and Righetta (Taramelli) Rolle on November 9, 1930, in Chisholm. On April 11, 1953, she married Harry (Jerry) Gherardi at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chisholm. They made their home in Hibbing, and together celebrated 60 years of marriage until his passing on January 16, 2014. Although Marie lived most of her life in Hibbing, she always remained a Chisholm girl at heart!

Marie graduated from Chisholm High School in 1948, after which she attended Duluth Business University for two years. It was in Duluth where she met her future husband Harry Gherardi. She worked as a secretary for Aetna Life Insurance in Duluth until her marriage; and then after most of her six children were grown and raised, she went to work at the Mesaba Clinic in Hibbing as an insurance clerk. She retired from there after 20 years.

Marie was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Fairview Auxiliary, and the Italian American Club.

Marie will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sweet nature, and loving kindness, along with her love of polka music, cooking, and all things Italian.

Those left to cherish her memory include: her five children, daughter Vickie (John) Drechsler of Loveland, CO; daughter Jeriann (Fabian) Danich of Hibbing; daughter Karen (Brett) Grinde of Pine City, MN; son Richard (Lori) of Orono, MN; and son Paul (Mandy) of Hibbing; her grandchildren, Lynsey (Josh) Barnes, Brittany (Eric) Larson, Jared, Nick, Jake, Maria, Julia, and Gino Gherardi; great-grandson Grayson Barnes; brother-in-law Frank Infelise of Duluth, MN; sister-in-law Jan Rolle of Grand Rapids, MN; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Harry (Jerry) Gherardi in January of this year; daughter Lynn Gherardi in 1980; infant grandchildren Rachel and Angelo Gherardi; her parents Emilio and Righetta Rolle; her sister Jeanadair (Jeana) Infelise; and her brother Ronald Rolle.

We, Marie's family, would like to acknowledge and thank Cheryl Janzen, for the loving and devoted care she provided our mother over the past nine months.

Funeral: The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 13, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing. A luncheon will follow at St. Leo's Parish Hall.

Viewing: Will be held at the church, one hour prior to the Mass.

Burial: A private family interment will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing at a later date.
