Marion Elizabeth Barta, 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Aicota Health Center in Aitkin, MN.  Prior to moving to Aitkin Mn, Marion was long time resident of Nashwauk and Pengilly MN.

Marion was born in Nashwauk, MN on November 2, 1921 to Lillian Lazaro and Milutin Raskovich.  Marion moved to Crosby MN as an infant where her father worked as a miner.  After Milutin's death in a mining accident her family returned to Nashwauk.  In 1935 Marion's mother Lillian married Sam  Stocco that resulted in a family of 16 brothers and sister.    Marion had a long career working in a variety of restaurants in the Nashwauk and Hibbing communities.  Marion was preceeded in death by her husbands Emil Shebly and Nicholas Dasovich.  She married Marion V. Barta July 27th 1997 and they made their home in Pengilly.
Marion was an active member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Nashwauk and St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Pengilly.  She was an active member of the parish and the community.  Marion loved helping with Pasty making at the church, Sharing and caring and activities at the Pengilly Community Center and V.F.W.  She was always willing to lend a hand at functions and did so until the last year of her life. Dancing was her passion and she and her husband Marion went dancing every chance they got!


She was preceded in death by her husbands Emil Shebly and Nicholas Dasovich; her beloved son Patrick; her father, Milutin; mother Lillian and step-father Sam Stocco; sisters Evelyn Church, Patricia Lott, Loretta Hanson, Angeline Lindgren, and Rosella Van Tassel; brothers Louis Raskovich, George Raskovich, John Raskovich, Pat Raskovich, John Stocco and Louis Stocco.

Marion is survived by her husband Marion V. Barta; brothers Richard (Shirlie) Stocco, James (Eleanor) Stocco, and Sam (Joanne)Stocco; and a sister, Pamella (Earl)Sjogren; Step Children: Phil (Debra) Barta, Sharon Hekrdle, and Rachel (Cindy) Barta; a brother in law, Matt Lott; a sister in law, Gloria Raskovich; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Marion had an adventurous spirit and brought joy to all those around her.

Visitation will be Saturday February 8, 2014, in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial.

Inurnment will be at the Nashwauk Cemetery at the grave site of Emil Shebly and Patrick Shebly.
