Marion K. Degnan

Marion K. Degnan, 88, Hibbing, died Saturday, December 17, 2016, in her home.  She was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Franklin Location near Virginia, MN to Peter and Frances (Cerar) Krasaway.  Marion graduated from Virginia High School and was united in marriage to George C. Degnan on Oct. 16, 1948.  She had worked as a bookkeeper at Taconite Engineering and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  She enjoyed painting, craft projects, quilting, knitting, and baking.  Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters:  Barbara (Patrick) Garrity and Susan (Thomas) McLaughlin, both of Hibbing; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Degnan, of Hibbing; a brother, Chas (Beverly) Krasaway, of Carson, CA; a sister, Patye (Charlie) Whitney, of Hibbing; eight grandchildren:  Shannon (Paul) Plombon, Katie (Adam) Smieja, Ricia (Jim) Vukad, Michael (Dawna) McLaughlin, Matthew McLaughlin, Molly McLaughlin, Kelli Degnan, and Christopher (Elissa) Degnan; eleven great-grandchildren:  Ava, Julia, Emily, Andrew, Achaius, Jackson, Navin, Lili, Addison, Lexin, and Oliver; with one more great-grandchild due in February 2017; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  Marion was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Degnan in 2001; by a son, George T. Degnan in 2016; by her parents; and by brothers James “Bello” Krasaway and John Krasaway.

Visitation will be Wednesday December 21, 2016, from 6—8 PM in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing, with parish wake prayers at 7:30 PM.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.doughertyofhibbing.com .
