Marion E. Johnson
Marion E. Johnson, 88, Hibbing, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, surrounded by her family in her home. She was born March 7, 1928 in Duluth, MN to Paul and Agnes Erickson. She married Allen Johnson on Oct. 21, 1950 and then moved to Hibbing in 1954. Marion’s life was centered around her home. Her creativity was a gift she shared with everyone. Whether it were her paintings, her stained glass, the knitting and crocheting she loved to do, or the harvest from her vegetable and flower gardens, Marion was an influence to many. She held nothing back from caring for her children. Some of her favorite things to do for her children were making clothing and furniture for their dolls. Her melted crayons that were then formed to be the doll’s “food” were especially memorable. In her free time Marion was a puzzler, whether it was the Jumble, Suduko or some other word game, Marion enjoyed the challenge. She was a member of the American Legion Post 222, The VFW Post 8510 and a life member of the DAV Chapter #3 Auxiliaries.
She is survived by her husband Allen, daughters: Dotti (Andy Rusk) Johnson of Colorado Springs; CO, Teresa (Joe) Zlonis of Hibbing and Holly (Ed) MacDonald of Westminster, CO; grandchildren: Cale Zlonis, Raena (Darion) Alexander, Layne Zlonis, Sarah (Scott) Wermuth, Cory MacDonald and Rachel MacDonald, and her great grandchildren: Nakaeda Zlonis, Asher Alexander, Kendrik Zlonis and Carson MacDonald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Erick “Dern” Erickson and his wife Ruby.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wed. Jan 4, 2017 in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter#3 Auxiliary.
