Marla Ann Koemptgen

Marla Ann Koemptgen age 71, lifelong resident of Hibbing. MN passed away peacefully on August 3, 2023, at Fairview Range Medical Center. Marla was born July 1, 1952, to Leland and Elsie (Roivas) Harder in Hibbing. She was a graduate

of Hibbing High School and was employed at the Mesaba Athletic Club and later managed the Hibbing Animal Shelter. Marla was also one of the first employees at the Hibbing Walmart, where she worked until her retirement. Marla was a mother and grandmother, who adored her daughter and grandchildren. She loved cooking and being outdoors; she was an avid gardener, who spent the summers in her yard creating beautiful gardens. Marla loved animals and nature; she was often found walking her

beloved dogs around the neighborhood and enjoyed visiting with her neighbors, who looked after her and became dear friends. Marla will be remembered for her kind heart, witty sense of humor and unique personality. Marla was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Elsie, brothers, Roland and Loren Harder. Marla is survived by her daughter, Jody (Eric) Cadotte,

grandchildren, Harper, and Ryker; sisters, Beverly (Floyd) Rootes, Sheryl Zidich. A celebration of Marla’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Hibbing Animal Shelter in her memory. Marla’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the care team at Fairview Range Medical Center and send a special thank you to her nurses for their exceptional care and compassion.
