Marvin Leroy Johnson, age 83 of Hibbing, formerly of Keewatin, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at Heritage Manor in Chisholm. He was born January 6, 1936 to Harold and Viola (Kuehn) Johnson in Bruno, MN. Marvin was a longtime resident of Keewatin. He served four years in the Air Force spending one of those years stationed on a base in Greenland. He met the love of his life Pauline while he was stationed in Michigan and they married there May 18, 1957. After his service in the Air Force, they returned to Keewatin and raised their six children. He began his involvement with the community serving as a Keewatin police officer and later two years on the Keewatin City Council. Marvin worked as an electrician at Eveleth Taconite, retiring in 1989. Being proud of his sobriety he would often speak at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in Virginia at the rehabilitation center. He enjoyed fishing and had a passion for woodworking. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Viola, brother, Donald Johnson, sister Mavis Christian and his great-grandchild, Bree. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Johnson. Daughters, Catherine (Brad) Williams, Cheryl Johnson, Sandra Johnson, Patricia (Kenneth) Szweduik, Colleen (Todd) Clusiau, Kristina (Leroy Kosola) Johnson. Grandchildren, Rachel Davis, Eric (Amanda Hasbrouck) Williams, Adam (Jessica) Williams, Ian Williams, Aaron (Christina) Brown, Alyssa Brown, Amanda (Jason) Rolfe, Tori Brown, Jake (Katie Thompson) Szweduik, Mathew (Britteny) Szweduik, Carrie (Eric Wright) Clusiau, April (Jamie) Perell, Samantha (Dylan Winegar) Clusiau, Kiara Clusiau, Jesse Sams, Cera (Damon) Connor, Hunter Koski, Willow Koski, 16 great-grandchildren. Siblings, Irene Fraboni and Howard Johnson, brother- in-law, Wilbert Christian. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, May 3, 2019 at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will be held 5-7 pm, Thursday, May 2 at the funeral home and continue from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Friday until the beginning of the service. Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery.
