Mary Ann Joyce (Bartell) Bills, 94 years old, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023 at Grand Village Nursing Home in Grand Rapids, MN. She lived a long and successful life as she worshipped and was thankful to God every day. Mary was born in Remer, MN, on December 5, 1928 to Augustus and Ida (Gleason) Bartell. She attended school at the Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson and eventually became an ordained minister. She taught the word of God throughout her life and also co-founded Gold Nugget Ministries in Alabama with her husband, Dwyer. They started their family together and raised six kids. Mary loved her family as she eventually became a great grandma and even a great great grandmother. With her faith being of utmost importance, she knew the Bible front to back and had a bible study at the Lee Center in Hibbing for several years. She will be greatly missed by many.
Mary is survived by her children; Sharon Emerson, Daniel (Sarah) Bills, Steven (Julie) Bills, Joseph Bills, Timothy (Donna) Bills and John (Linda) Bills, the surviving siblings of her family of seventeen children, tons of grandkids, great and great great grandkids and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Ida, husband, Dwyer, four brothers, four sisters, son-in-law, Steven Emerson, daughter's-in-law, Marie and Nina Bills and grandsons, Darell and Andy Gilbert.
Please join the family for a funeral service at 1:00PM on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Abundant Life Church in Hibbing, MN. There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at 12:00PM on Thursday at Abundant Life Church. Interment will take place at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Pastor Dan Scally will officiate the services.
