Mary Evelyn Fischer
Mary Evelyn Fischer, 85, of Arden Hills, formerly of Hibbing, died Tuesday, May 21,
2013, in Arden Hills, MN.
She was born in Ely to Werner and Florence Wolff on May 17, 1928, was a graduate of
Hibbing High School and attended Hibbing Junior College.
Mary married George E. Fischer on May 7, 1949, at Blessed Sacrament Church in
Hibbing. They were longtime residents of Hibbing.
Mary was a member of the Lady Elks Lodge 1022 and a volunteer with the Hospital
Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, sewing, playing Bridge and Bocce and
working cross-word puzzles; she especially enjoyed her daily gin rummy and cribbage
games with her twin sister Terri. Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception
Church in Hibbing.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Sandie) Fischer of Minneapolis, MN; daughter
Barbara (Joe) Miller of Cayucos, CA; daughter Marian (Michael) Gentner of Oakdale, MN;
five grandchildren: Michelle Miller of San Diego, CA, Adam Gentner of Michigan City,
IN, Christina Miller of Santa Barbara, CA, Shawn Fischer of Minneapolis, MN, Kathryn
Gentner of Oakdale, MN, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Fischer; twin sister, Theresa Heino;
brother, Jim Wolff; nephew, Jim Heino; sister-in-law Mary Lou Wolff; brother-in-law,
Creighton “Bud” Heino, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am., Friday, May 31, 2013 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Fred Method celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in Church for one hour before the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
