Mary M. Gabardi

Mary M. Gabardi, 98, Hibbing, died Thursday, June 9, 2016 in the Fairview Range Medical Center, Hibbing.  She was born Feb. 9, 1918 in Nashwauk, MN, the daughter of James and Louisa Martire. She and her husband Eugene made their home in Hibbing for many years where she was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, The Italian American Club, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Hibbing Elks Lodge the Women of the Moose.  She had worked for both Crippa Music and the Erickson Music Center for many years.  Her life always focused around her family, whether it was the crocheting she did or her great Italian cooking that was enjoyed by all, family always came first.

She is survived by her sons Joe (Georgiana) Gabardi of Pengilly, MN and Gene (Shelley Schafer) Gabardi of Hibbing, grandchildren Derek (Jeri Ann) Gabardi of Hibbing, Joey (Sarah) Gabardi of Hibbing, Maria (Chad Quitberg) Gabardi of Hibbing, 6 great grandchildren, Gracie, Sam, Jack, Joey and Jenna Gabardi, and Callen Quitberg and numerous  nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her parents, 3 brothers, Joe, Edward ”Shine” and Anthony Martire and her sister Rose Dolinar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  Visitation will be in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
