Mary C. Madzey , 66, Hibbing, MN, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 in the Cornserstone Villa in Buhl, MN.  She was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Hibbing to James and Leona Somers.  Mary was a 1971 graduate of Hibbing High School and a 1975 graduate of Bemidji State University with a degree in Elementary Education.  She loved her family, animals, and working in her gardens and was affectionately known as "Sarge" or "Mare Bear" by those that loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Leona Somers.

She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Madzey; a son, Michael (Kelly) Madzey; 2 grandchildren, Nora (6) and Alex (2) Madzey; a twin sister, Margery  (Dan) Ellefson; a niece, Susan Ellefson, and a younger sister, Joanne  (Anthony) Baraga.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11a.m. in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing.  Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
