Mary E. Sajevic

Mary E. Sajevic, 91, longtime resident of Hibbing died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Hillcrest Parkside Assisted Living in Hibbing, MN.  She was born on April 9, 1924 to Angelo and Palma (Garofalo) Serra in Nashwauk, MN.  Mary was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8510 of Hibbing.  Mary was also known and mostly active with Sacred Heart Circle in Hibbing.  She enjoyed going to the lake, knitting afghans, reading, baking, cooking, and especially family activities.

She is survived by her son, A. Paul (Bobbi) Sajevic, Hibbing, her two grandchildren, Beth (Nick) Tepovich, and Sam (Teresa) Sajevic, both of Hibbing, four beloved great-grandchildren, Vincent, Rose, Charles, and George, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Cy” in 2009, parents, Angelo and Palma (Garofalo) Serra, her sisters, Josephine Serra and Rose Lastovich, three brothers, Frank, Albert, and John Serra.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00am, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:30pm.  The visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Friday.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
