Mary J. “Mayme” Stukel, 99, Chisholm, MN, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 in the Fairview Range Medical Center, Hibbing, MN. She was born Jan. 27, 1915 in Chisholm, the daughter of John and Agnes Kochevar. Mayme graduated from the Anchor Hospital in St. Paul with a Registered Nurse degree. She returned to Chisholm where she married Rudolph Stukel and became the City Nurse for 37 years. She was a member of the Slovenian Home. Her friends and family will remember Mayme for her caring, helping, giving and the public health care contributions for her beloved City of Chisholm. She radiated an infinite compassion that it was our privilege to share.
She is survived by her son Randall (Betsy) Stukel of Edina, MN, a brother Ted Kochevar of Duluth, MN, grandchildren Jason (Jenny) Stukel and Katie Stukel, 3 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a group of outstanding nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rudolph in 1985, 2 sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Jan. 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chisholm. The Rev. Frank Perkovich will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Chisholm Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
