MaryAnn I. Mayer, 81, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in Hibbing. She was born on February 18, 1933, to Ira Andrew and Edith (Damiani) Kritz in Hibbing, MN. MaryAnn was most recently employed with her son’s catering business as a caterer with CMC Inc. in Hibbing. She was a proud member of the 1957 Hibbing Women’s Softball Team which won the Minnesota State Championship, a member of the Hibbing Bowling Association, the Hibbing Moose Club, and was the secretary for Dorts Bowling League for many years. The pastimes that she loved were; bingo, crossword puzzles, watching sports, and bowling.
She is survived by her three children: Kurt (Marie) Mayer, Hibbing, MN, Stacy (Butch Stark) Knezovich, Lake Wales, FL, and Cheryl (Terry Tomhave) Karakash, Hibbing; five grandchildren: Amber (Adam) Angove, Hibbing, Dominique (Andy LaBarge) Mayer, Keewatin, Sascha Mayer, Hibbing, Joslyn (Steve) Marsh, Chisholm, MN, and Cyle Karakash, Hibbing; 10 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Cole, Chloe, Ashton, Auchtra, Tyler, Bryce, Genevieve, Mason, and McGuire; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Cory Mayer; and a brother, John Kritz.
A gathering of family and friends for MaryAnn will take place from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
