Mathew Chamernick

Mathew Chamernick, 88, of Pengilly, MN passed away on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, at Guardian Angels. 

Mathew was born on March 6th, 1936, in Hibbing, MN to Joseph and Katherine (Jemec) Chamernick. He volunteered to serve in the United States Army. He served for 3 years as a Supply Sergeant before receiving an Honorable Discharge and returning home to his family. Years later, Mathew married the love of his life, Tamara Golec, on March 22, 1973.

Mathew was involved with his community by joining the American Legion, VFW, the Moose and Elks clubs in Hibbing. He was also a business owner and owned numerous businesses in Minneapolis. He enjoyed spending time up at the cabin in Pengilly doing yard work and mowing the lawn. Mathew loved to play golf and softball. He also loved watching the Vikings and the North Stars; he always had season tickets to go and watch them.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Pengilly; his children, Mark (Heidi) Chamernick of Warroad, MN and Heather (Bob) Hoer of Omaha, NE; his brother, Edward Chamernick; sisters-in-law, Nancy, Marilyn, and Charlene Chamernick; grandchildren, Abigail Chamernick, Danielle Hoer, Nathan Hoer, Ryan Chamernick, and Madison Chamernick; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Joseph, Frank, John, Bill, Maryann, and Kathy; his brothers-in-law, Tracy and John; his sisters-in-law; Darlene and Sharon; and other loving family members.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1PM at the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN with Fr. Baba Mandagari officiating. Visitation will be held 11 AM – 1 PM prior to the service. The burial will held immediately following the mass at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, MN.
