Matthew Carroll, 82, Keewatin, died Monday; April 9, 2012 in the Essentia Health Care Center, Duluth. He was born in Keewatin on April 19, 1929 to John and Catherine Carroll. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and had worked in the Keewatin area before moving to Alaska, where he worked as a cat skinner and grader for various construction projects. A devoted father and grandfather, Matthew loved to spend time taking care of the family he loved. He was also a trusted and loyal friend to many. One of his favorite things to do was to feed his friends and companions whether it be in the back yard or at the hunting & fishing camps he loved to spend time at. He was a member of the IUOE Local 302 and a life member of the NRA.
He is survived by his children Bob Carroll, Jacquie Carroll and Franee Carroll all of Canoga Park, CA, his mother Catherine, and 2 grandsons: Joseph and Brandon. He was preceded in death by his son Matthew, his father and a brother John Carroll.
The family is planning funeral services for a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home
