Maxine E. Iozzo
Maxine E. Iozzo, 81, Side Lake, formerly of Hibbing died Friday, February 24, 2017 at home with family by her side. She was born on August 28, 1935 to Martin and Ethel (Brady) Kennedy in Hibbing. She entered the Sacrament of Marriage on October 19, 1957 with Joseph Iozzo at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. She was employed as a switchboard operator for Hibbing General Hospital, and most recently was still employed with Fairview Range Medical Center of Hibbing. Maxine was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Maxine’s grandchildren meant everything to her. She traveled the 4 corners of Minnesota and beyond for her grandchildren. She attended their piano recitals, swimming meets, hockey games, volleyball tournaments, and band recitals. She also enjoyed spending Saturday’s with her grandchildren on the pontoon by McCarthy Beach and cruising, the Side Lake chain.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Iozzo, Side Lake, MN, four sons, Joe (Mary) Iozzo, Side Lake, MN, Marty Iozzo, Maple Grove, MN, Patrick (Steph) Iozzo, and Jerry Iozzo, both of Hibbing, sister, Diane Kolar, Hibbing, her six favorite grandchildren, Marin Iozzo, Allie Iozzo, Bella Iozzo, Mallorie Iozzo, Sam Iozzo, and Joe Iozzo, her special nephew, David Kennedy, Duluth, MN, beloved sister-in-law, Clara Kearney, Hibbing, her dear friend, Becky Stanich, along with many other nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Patrick Kennedy, and two sisters, Mary Ellen Sikich and Deloris “Pete” Larson.
Funeral services for Maxine will be 11:00am, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Honorary pallbearers are her 6 beloved grandchildren, Marin Iozzo, Allie Iozzo, Bella Iozzo, Mallorie Iozzo, Sam Iozzo, and Joe Iozzo.
