Mervin Allen Rice

Mervin Allen Rice, 83, Hibbing, died Saturday February 24, 2018 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.  He was born in Nimrod, MN to Martin and Myrtle (Skeesuck) Rice on March 29, 1934.  Mervin had worked with the City of Hibbing as an Equipment Operator.  He was very active and a founding member of the Open Door Church in Hibbing.

He will be missed by his wife Myrna, children, Scott (Gail) Rice, Hibbing, Sheila (Ed) Burt, Eagan, MN, Tammy (Norman) Carter, Hibbing, Tim (Annette) Rice, Detroit Lakes, and Martin (Michelle) Rice, Hibbing, siblings, Noma Auel, Hibbing, Norm (Lois) Rice, Shakopee, MN, Roger (Doreen) Rice, Hibbing, Nola Renskers, Hibbing, and Raymond (Regina) Rice, Mesa, AZ, many many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shelley Thomas, siblings, Rosella Woessner, Martin Jr., Marvin Sr., and Roseina Rice, Iris Cole, and Rossetta Lucas.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am., Friday March 2, 2018 in the Open Door Church with Pastor Tim Rice officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Thursday March 1, 2018 in the Dougherty Funeral Home and continue in the Church at 10:00 am. Friday.  Entombment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery Columbarium. Military Honors will be accorded by Mid-Range Honor Guard.
