Marion, Michael John 82 years old and a lifelong resident of Hibbing, MN passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on May 6, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1935 in Wauwatosa, WI to the late Michael and Mary(Yankovich) Marion.
Mike attended Hibbing High School and graduated in 1953. He was a Hibbing High School Hall of Fame recipient for various sports. He attended the University of Minnesota on a basketball scholarship and later transferred to St. Cloud State University where he earned a business degree. He then entered the Army & Air National guard. After his years of service, he pursued a job as a buyer with the Hanna Mining Company. He then met his amazing wife Pat and they were married on April 24, 1965 and started their life in Hibbing. Mike was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and Mesaba Country Club. He served on the Hibbing City Council as a councilman for Ward C, and was a past member of the Hanna retirees, Hibbing Elks Lodge and the Hibbing Curling Club. Mike especially enjoyed his time golfing at the country club, cheering on his grandkids in their various sports, having coffee with the guys and doing spontaneous trips with his wife Pat. His wife, children and grandchildren were the light of his life and will carry on his memory.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Pat of 53 years, whom will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his son Kevin Marion (Kris) and his daughter Julie Roelofs (Rick) as well as his beloved grandchildren,
Erika, Allison, Teddy & Charlie Marion and Luke & Drew Roelofs. A brother Jim Marion along with loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Steve Marion.
We would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and hospice nurses who helped Mike on his cancer journey. God Bless you all.
Funeral: Services for Mike will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Hibbing on Saturday, May 26, 2018. The Rev. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation: Will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial: A private family interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing.
