Michael T. Metzer
Michael T. Metzer, 50 from St. Francis, formerly of Nashwauk died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Robbinsdale Rehabilitation & Care Center in Robbinsdale, MN. He was born on October 20, 1965 to Dennis and Barbara (Gangl) Metzer in Kenosha, WI. He was employed as a machinist and welder for PHI Company in the twin cities. He loved the outdoors. Michael loved riding snowmobiles, ATV’s, and motorcycles. He was a member of the Range Riders ATV Club in Nashwauk, and the Sno-ghosts Snowmobiling Club of St. Francis. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He also was a member of the NRA and MDHA. Other hobbies of his were going to gun shows, or collecting Arctic Cat memorabilia. He would always add his touch with “Arctic Cat” stickers to everything that had a smooth surface.
He is survived by his three daughters, Carlene (Daniel) Darsow, St. Francis, MN, Carissa (Jacob) Scanlon, Cloquet, MN, and Kayla Metzer, St. Francis, MN, three siblings, Russell Metzer, Isanti, MN, Christine (Thomas) Lorenz, Cloquet, MN, and Charlene Metzer, Nashwauk, MN, five grandchildren, Owen Darsow, Adriyana Darsow and Declan Darsow, Hunter Scanlon and Layla Scanlon, and six nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Barbara (Gangl) Metzer, and his sister, Cathleen Metzer.
Funeral services for Michael will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN. The Rev. Fr. Seth Gogolin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30pm, Monday, November 23, 2015 at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. The visitation will continue from 10:00am until the 11:00am funeral Mass at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery, Nashwauk. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
