Michael “Mike” Allan Platt, 72 of Nashwauk, Minnesota was born on June 4, 1952 in Bemidji, Minnesota to the late Arthur “Bud” and Emily (McBride) Platt and passed from this life on September 27, 2024 at his home north of Nashwauk. Mike held a position as part of the blasting team before retiring from Kee-Tac formerly known as National Steel after his logging accident in 2007. During his thirty-five years of service he held several positions which included truck driver, cat-skinner, and pit laborer earning him the name “Pit Bulley” because of his hard work ethic and doing the work of three men. This nickname followed him throughout his career. Mike was a valuable employee and was deeply missed by his coworkers when he retired. When Mike first met his high school sweetheart Vickie (Drake) Platt he knew he would marry her. They married June 10, 1972 and shortly after he moved his wife to the homestead where they lived for 52 years. Upon these 52 years of marriage Mike never missed a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or auction sale and always managed to surprise her with a gift or card. Mike was a man of many treasures. If he had it, he had “three of it” including his three children. Tayomi, Danielle, and Kris whom he loved very much. Whether it was his children or grandchildren’s school activities you could find Mike on the sidelines or in the bleachers cheering them on. Sometimes Vickie wondered if Mike loved his land more than he loved her. Mike built his home, worked his land, and created a little piece of heaven that he was proud of. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronnie Platt, several brothers in law and his son in law, Christopher Mullenax. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Vickie, his children, Tayomi (Brad) Bloom, Hibbing, Danielle Mullenax, Grand Rapids and Kris (Amanda) Platt, Pengilly. Five grandchildren, Brandi Platt, Lexi Platt, Kole Platt, Gavin Platt, Dylan Mullenax and two great grandchildren, Demi and Dakota Hopke.
