Michael N. Shannon, 59, Hibbing, died peacefully but unexpectedly, Sat. Jan. 21, 2012 in his home . He was born Aug. 19, 1952 in Hibbing, the son of Benjamin and Mary Shannon. He graduated from Hibbing High and then served in the US Navy. He became a certified jet mechanic and had worked for the 3M Co. Following his years with 3M, Michael concentrated his time as an auto mechanic for his family and friends. He returned to Hibbing in 1998 to care for his parents and to continue spending time with the grandchildren he loved.
He is survived by his daughters Angela Shannon of Portland, OR and Nicole (Kyle) Holdt of Luck, WI, brothers, Benjamin (Helen) Shannon of Prior Lake, MN and John Shannon of Hibbing, his grandchildren, Amanda Shannon, Andrew Erickson, Tyler Vanatta Yvonne J. Shannon and Landon Holdt and his dear friend Arlette Genise.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wed., Jan. 25, 2012 in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. The Rev. Jim Deters will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:30 until service time.
