Michael "Mickey" Javorina, 77, of Nashwauk and Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born in Hibbing on October 15, 1946, to Michael and Nancy (Forstrom) Javorina. Mike graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to spend some time with the National Guard. Mick met his wife, Rose, in 1971 and were married on Christmas Eve in 1973. They just celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage. He worked for the city of Hibbing for many years and ended his career retiring from there. Mickey loved to deer hunt and restore old cars with his wife and kids. He especially enjoyed going car "hunting" in the early spring and cruising for his next project. Mick was known as "The Rabbit Guy" by his kids and the community because he raised rabbits, didn't cage them and would give them to anyone that stopped when going by. He loved being in the woods and enjoyed the smells and sounds. Mike was so thankful and wouldn't have traded the world for time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Rose Javorina, daughter Danielle Javorina and her kids Tayler and Ryan Molick, son Michael "Mike" Javorina and his daughter Cheyenne Chastaine, sister Corrine (Keith) Hubbard, sister-in-laws Janet Rootes, Ida Meyer and Sandy Rootes and his great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Manual "Mike" and Nancy Javorina, in-laws Ray and Patricia Rootes, sister Celest "Sally" Peters and brother-in-laws Paul Cvar, Larry Meyer, Allen and Joe Rootes.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing on Thursday, February 8th, 2024.
