Muriel G. Dixon
Muriel G. Dixon, 89, Hibbing, died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at home with family by her side. She was born on July 23, 1926 to John and Eleanore (Quisberg) Boie in Belgrade, MN. A homemaker by trade, Muriel had been a resident of Hibbing since 1954, moving from Chisholm where she resided for three years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing, the church ladies guild, and their bible study groups. She also volunteered at Jefferson School on that district’s election board. Muriel was a person who loved her family dearly, enjoyed her company, and loved to cook.
She is survived by her seven children: Larry (Janet) Dixon, Barbara (Stuart) Dye, John (Kathy) Dixon, Kathleen (Roger) Hamrick, Diane (Jerry) Sanborn, Patricia (Perry) Haverkamp, and Wayne Dixon, all of Hibbing; her nine siblings: Harriet Drake, Columbia Heights, MN, Richard Boie, Sun City West, AZ, Ramona Mohs, Belgrade, MN, Dorothy (Bill) Bahe, Alexrandia, MN, David (Marsha) Boie, New Brighton, MN, Roger Boie, Braham, MN, Janet Romness, Pine Island, MN, James (Kathy) Boie, Marana, AZ, and Lyle (Darlene) Boie, Belgrade, MN; 16 grandchildren: Robert Dixon, Rachel (Joe) Ward, Scott (Bernadette) Dye, Rick (Anne) Dye, Dianna Dye, Deanne (Mike) Buffie, Melissa (Casey) Gallagher, Jeffery (DaNeil) Sirjord, Jesse Sirjord, Mike (Kari) Sanborn, Jason Sanborn, Craig (Jody) Cox, Shawn (Melissa) Cox, Brett Dixon, Ronnie Dixon, and Joseph Dixon; 23 great-grandchildren: Travis, Claire, Kyle, Matt, Magie, Katie, Joshua, Samantha, Brandon, Bree, Aaron, Evan, Madelyn, Keke, Christian, Cassidy, Charisma, Carmen, Jered, Erick, Jillian, Kaitlyn, and Jacob; two great-great-grandchildren, Karmella and Nadeah, and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne in 2002; grandson, Jerry Sanborn; and son-in-law, James Sirjord.
Funeral services for Muriel will be 11:00am, Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Tim Yearyean will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
